What is a Diplomate?
A Diplomate is a Periodontist who has received certification by the American Board of Periodontology for demonstrated excellence in his or her field. This is the highest recognition of achievement awarded by the specialty.
What are the requirements to be a Diplomate?
To be qualified for Board certification, a Periodontist must have demonstrated significant achievement beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty. This is measured by comprehensive oral and written examinations covering all phases of periodontal disease and its treatment, including dental implants.
